FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
- Can AquaBlanket be used on indoor swimming pools?
- Yes – AquaBlanket is very effective on both indoor and outdoor pools. By reducing water evaporation on indoor pools, the amount of work that the dehumidification equipment needs to do is reduced and this gives additional cost savings on top of the savings that using AquaBlanket provides from heating the pool water.
- Can AquaBlanket be used on infinity pools?
- Yes AquaBlanket works well on infinity pools. However if the infinity pool uses a balance tank, then as the liquid pool cover floats on the surface of the water, any liquid pool cover can become trapped in the balance tank and cannot return to the pool as it would with a skimmer pool. If the outlet from the balance tank is at the bottom, then the liquid pool cover will float on the top of the balance tank and can be trapped there. If however there is an overflow outlet to the balance tank, the liquid pool cover can then leave the balance tank and recirculate back to the pool.
- Can AquaBlanket be used on natural swimming pools?
- Yes – as AquaBlanket is biodegradable and non-toxic, it has no effect on the growth of plants etc in natural pools.
- Is AquaBlanket as effective as a physical pool cover?
- Whilst the heat retention properties for AquaBlanket are not as high as for traditional pool covers, AquaBlanket will still provide significant energy savings compared to pools with no pool covers. It is therefore ideal for pools where a traditional pool cover is not used.
- Is AquaBlanket safe?
- Yes – AquaBlanket has been independently tested to show that it is safe to skin and eyes at the recommended concentration. It is biodegradable and non-hazardous. It is also PH neutral and so does not affect the water’s chemistry balance.
AquaBlanket has been NSF certified and has a Material Safety Data sheet - see the Documents page to download these documents
- How do I add AquaBlanket to the pool?
- AquaBlanket can simply be applied straight from the bottle to the pool. The measuring scale on the side of the bottle can be used as a guide to the amount to add. Alternatively an automatic dosing pump is available to automatically add the required amount of AquaBlanket liquid to the pool at scheduled times.
- Can AquaBlanket be used with salt pools?
- Yes – AquaBlanket can be used with salt or chlorine based pools
- Does AquaBlanket have a smell, can I tell it is in the pool water?
- No - AquaBlanket is odourless and clear and cannot be seen or smelt when in the pool water
- Can AquaBlanket be used in conjunction with a physical pool cover?
- Yes - AquaBlanket can be used with a traditional pool cover. It will then reduce heat and water loss when the physical cover is off the pool. This can be beneficial for pools that remain uncovered during the day for example.
- Will chlorine in the pool affect AquaBlanket ?
- No - AquaBlanket is a polymer based product and is not affected by chlorine (or salt) in the pool water
- Can AquaBlanket be used on ozone pools?
- Yes - AquaBlanket is a polymer based product and is not affected by ozone
- Can AquaBlanket be used with UV pool water sterilization systems?
- Yes - AquaBlanket is not affected by UV sterilization
- Can AquaBlanket be used with activated carbon filters ?
- Yes - AquaBlanket 's unique polymer based formula is not affected by activated carbon in the pool filtration system
- I am not based in the UK, can you ship AquaBlanket to me?
- Yes - We can ship AquaBlanket to any country. Please contact us for a shipping quote.
- Does AquaBlanket have a shelf life?
- No, not really. AquaBlanket 's unique polymer based formula will not breakdown over time and so the product has a very long shelf-life (at least 2-years). We however recommend that AquaBlanket is not allowed to freeze, for example if kept outside during winter.
- Can AquaBlanket be used on commercial or public pools?
- Yes, AquaBlanket provides excellent benefits and cost savings for commercial pools. On commercial pools with higher bather loads or deck level pools, the dosing rate should be increased to twice per week. In addition, due to the high bather load, for best results we recommend feeding AquaBlanket in small amounts multiple times per day using the AquaBlanket automatic dosing pump. Please contact us for further advice on using AquaBlanket with commercial pools.
- Can AquaBlanket be used with hot-tubs? Does the high water temperature (around 40c) affect the dosing required?
- Yes, AquaBlanket can be used for hot-tubs. AquaBlanket 's unique polymer based formula is not affected by higher water temperatures and can be used on hot tubs. The normal AquaBlanket dosing rate is recommended for hot-tubs
